Description

Joined “Appy School” Jan ’69, graduating three years later as a Vehicle Mechanic.

Met Jules at Appy School and married her at the end of ’72, and yes, we are still together after 40+ years (you only get 15 for murder!)

After graduating OCS, served a couple of technical postings and then got sent back to OCS Portsea for three years “retraining”! (an RMC’s worth of years at OCS!)  This period included a short stint as an exchange instructor at RMA Sandhurst UK.

Back above the “Brisbane Line” for further technical postings (“Regimental”) including HQ 6 Bde (Staff).

Off to the Middle East for a year with UNTSO/UNDOF, an accompanied posting to make the experience even better, especially with an 8 year old son at that stage!

The Gods looked kindly over me on return to Oz, promoting me and giving me a unit command, 106 Field Workshop, (6 Bde).

After the pinnacle of unit command, an “elephant’s graveyard” posting followed in preparation for a parting of the ways in mid ’89. The threats of Melbourne or Canberra were too much!

Integration into civy life was interesting as State Maintenance Manager for Australia’s largest transport company at the time (TNT), but at the height of the TWU, 26 hour days, and constant blood stains across the back, time to move on.

The familiar old comfort zone of training was “calling”, been doing it ever since! Now heading up a training company specializing in dangerous goods training, predominately for the fuel industry.

Having too much fun to retire just yet!

Jules and I only had the one heir, our son Adam who lives in Manchester, UK with his beautiful wife and our gorgeous 2 year old granddaughter.

Travel is obviously in our vocabulary!
