Description

Married: to Denise (37 years next December). Two step-daughters (aged care and Australia Post’s Corporate Post Division), one son (medical scientist with two degrees), five step-grandkids, no great-grandkids as yet.

Working Career:

  • 1967 to 1971 – Bank Officer, National Bank (various locations in South East Qld).
  • 1971 to 1972 – National Serviceman, 9RAR, Enoggera.
  • 1973 – Officer Cadet / Bn Orderly Room Sgt, OCS, Portsea.
  • 1974 to mid-1975 – Pl Comd, 6RAR, Enoggera.
  • Mid-1975 to 1976 – Recruit Pl Comd, 1RTB, Kapooka.
  • 1977 – LO4 to the Commander, 3rd Task Force, Townsville.
  • 1978 to 1979 – SO3, HQ DSG NQ, Townsville (also Secretary NQ Area Amenities Fund – which owned holiday accommodation at Cairns and Magnetic Island).
  • 1980 to 1981 – Communications Officer / Company 2IC, Spt Coy, 6RAR, Enoggera.

  • 1993 to March 2008 – Workplace Health & Safety Advisor, Outside Workforce Management & Skills Training Coordinator, Principal Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator, Secretary to Workplace Health & Safety Advisory Committee ― Noosa Council.
  • March 2008 to September 2010 – Senior Workplace Health & Safety Advisor, Sunshine Coast Council.
  • 30 September 2010 – full retirement.

Hobbies and Pastimes: cruising (Rhine River, around Oz, around NZ; to Vanuatu and New Caledonia, to Shanghai and Hong Kong), fly-driving in UK, NZ and Tassie); fishing (member of the Maroochy RSL Fishing Club); shooting; audio electronics; reading; trivia (our team thrashed Alex Downer’s team on the “Queen Victoria” in March ’13); activities at the Buderim Community Men’s Shed; volunteer work for the local Red Cross Blood Bank; editing and developing my father’s memoirs (he served in 460 Sqn RAAF during World War 2); regular exercise at a local gym (to offset the effects of injury, age, dodgy genes and cruising); woodworking; trying (unsuccessfully) to avoid garden work; and often explaining to disappointed strangers that I’m not Kevin Rudd.
