Born in Launceston in 1950. After finishing school, worked in the family business, completed an upholstery apprenticeship and served in 6 Fd Regt (CMF) before being selected to attend OCS at Scheyville.
Graduated to RAA, posted to 4 Fd Regt, Townsville and served in a number of regimental appointments. Posted to CARO in Melbourne in May 77, followed by: Training Officer, 16 Fd Bty (Launceston) (80-82), Instructor OCS (83-84), Adjt 4 Fd Regt (85-86) before promotion to Major and sub-unit command in 4 Fd Regt (86-87), Training Officer 11 Fd Regt (88), SO2 Pers/Log and SO2 Ops HQ 1 Div Arty (89-91) and finally 2IC, 1 Fd Regt.
I was offered a redundancy in Jun 93 and, at the same time, accepted a position at Padua College in Brisbane looking after the grounds and maintenance and workplace health and safety. My role description (after I wrote it myself) finished with something like ‘and everything-else that no-one else wants to do). My position has evolved over the years to Facility Manager with focus on major building projects. Retirement is certainly on the horizon with a possible move to the Sunshine Coast in the next couple of years.
Colleen and I married in 1979 and we have four children – Kelsey, Travis, Jarrod and Courtney as well as three beautiful grand-daughters.
