Description

My posting after graduation was to 6RAR as a rifle platoon commander followed by Transport platoon and then Mortar Line Officer. Then a year in Sydney as SO4 Air 2MD, two years as Adj. DSU Albury / Wodonga and finished up with a year in 8/9 RAR Brisbane as 2IC Support company until Jan. 1981.

It feels like a life time ago.

In the years since, I have lost count (and forgotten) of the jobs, small businesses and residences I’ve occupied.

Some that do come to mind are Real estate sales in Toowong, Kirra and Warrnambool. Running an indoor tennis centre in Geelong and a bowls club in Warrnambool.  Development officer for the Vic. Basketball Association in Melbourne, owning a fruit shop and gardening business in Geelong, a cleaning business in Tweed Heads and my current cleaning business in Warrnambool.

Overseas, I tried to get on the basketball team of a junior college in Santa Cruz California while studying french. During two years in Dublin I tried my hand at laboring for a builder, gardening for a well to do German and courtesy driver and car detailer for a motor dealer.

These days I’m  content in Warrnambool and have the occasional game of golf and bowls.

To date I’ve only seen two other graduates since resigning, Doug Webb and Tom Moylan. I saw them both in Perth a few years ago and Doug invited my friend Kerrie and me for lunch at his place, the rabbit was delicious. Two years later after a long illness my doctor asked me if I had any contact with rabbits!

I’m looking forward very much to seeing you all again.
